Boise, Idaho: A Leader in Sustainability and Environmentalism

The City of Boise is committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability for its citizens. Boise is taking action to address climate change, as the city's success is closely linked to clean energy, clean air, and clean water. Climate action is about creating a better future for all Boise residents while protecting the environment. Environmental organizations in Boise, Idaho have been at the forefront of public policy initiatives that support sustainability and environmental protection. These initiatives include advocating for renewable energy sources, encouraging green jobs, and supporting local conservation efforts.

In 2003, the Resolution on Green Buildings set the stage for more sustainable design and greater energy efficiency in all new buildings, addressing environmental costs in built and natural environments. The Treasure Valley Food Coalition is a non-profit organization that works to create a dynamic local food economy in the Treasure Valley food shed in southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon.
